Place: De Luxe Coffee

I don't drink coffee but a diamond in gold leaf is of course going to catch your eye. This little logo was just begging me to check out the new coffee shop, De Luxe Coffee, a few weeks ago in South Park Slope. Gold leaf script on their front window, chic wall paper and mint espresso cups make up this warm, hip (but not too hip!) space. They also carry Dough doughnuts. Yum.

Place: Homebody Boutique

I love me some cute handmade items, but I especially love shops who support handmade goods. Homebody Boutique is one of those shops in Brooklyn and the owner, Kate Silver, does a great job curating an eclectic and unique mix of home goods, gifts, and jewelry. I stopped by this weekend with my man and we picked up a seriously sweet stash of accessories for the heart and home.

Cold

The weather was a chilly 27 degrees this morning when I took the dog out. Reminded me of this amazing video of the Inuit people in the Arctic waiting to greet the sun that I watched a while back.

I discovered this video on the blog, Nowness, which is a daily blog of photo slide shows, professional produced video clips, and interviews. The content highlights art, culture, fashion, gastronomy/food, and luxury items (the blog is actually affiliated with Louis Vuitton).

The content is great and the site itself is clean, minimal looking, and easy to navigate. I'm completely envious of their image blog calendar found below each post. It's a great way to explore the blog.

Place: DUMBO

Dumbo is one of my top favorite neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Hands down. If I had a few million to kill, I would easily drop it on a loft in Dumbo with an amazing view of the B-Bridge. Hell, I would purchase the amazing Clock Tower Loft if I could. Can you imagine a more perfect place to throw a New Year's Eve party?

But back to what I really love about Dumbo. It's industrial, full of brick buildings, cobble stone streets, and just the most picturesque urban waterfront you'll come by. While meandering around this summer, I came across knitting graffiti artist, Olek's, knitted piano installation. The newly open glass carousel is pretty nice too and is sure to draw crowds this summer. So if you are visiting Brooklyn any time soon, stop by this spot. You won't regret it. Oh, and it happens to be the home to Etsy Brooklyn Headquarters too, which I have had a chance to visit twice.

Vintage Adventures

 You know it's a wonderful world when you discover a gnome craft book in mint condition at your local bookstore. This little paperback is full of some incredible 70's kitsch crafts including a little wooden gnome made from a tree branch, a cross stitch pattern, and gnome paper garlands for that special woodland party you are planning to have this spring.

I also have a special package of vintage fabric on the way. Look at how adorable these prints are. I just couldn't resist. Just in time for some spring projects!

Stitch: Frederique Morrell

If I was an art collector, I would be hoarding these amazing pieces by husband/wife artist duo, Frederique Morrell. And it's not just the stunning craftsmanship and slightly absurd appearance of their sculptures that has won me over. I love artist duo teams, especially those who are couples; Robert Capa being one of my favorite art couples of all time. More of their work can be found HERE. And how adorable are the tapestry coats that they made their jack russells? Too cute!
