Still settling in . . . .

I'm still trying to settle into the new place. We don't have a lot of furniture but I didn't let that stop me from setting up a make shift craft room. Unlike my last place, I actually have a small but decent size room to work in. No silly kitchenette anymore! It doesn't look like much now but I have dreams, boy, do I have dreams! I imagine a lovely little crafty/office/storage space where I can get all my work done.  Hopefully, I'll have more luck with installing shelves in this room than the kitchen. That was complete fail and now involves some creative rethinking. Ah, New York and it's infamous small spaces. :)

Oh yeah, Bianca is happy to let you know that she is settling just fine. She is enjoying her new window sill that offers the perfect view and sun spot.

  1. :) I love seeing peoples craft spaces and offices. :) We have been in our apartment for a touch under a year now, and I still haven't figured out the ideal craft/office situation. We moved here (just outside NYC) from Sacramento last summer. We still have almost no furniture, but we are happy to have our own space (after living with family for four years!!!).

I keep threatening to turn my son's bedroom into my craft room/office as he refuses to sleep in there! :) Maybe I should just go ahead and do it!

Oh, I also just read your "about" - we have a similar dream: converting a vintage trailer into a studio or mobile shop. That would be so freaking cool! My other thought is to get two "tiny houses" and put them side by side with a connecting path. One to live in, one to craft in!

  2. Malea- Where are you living in NY? And, I have to ask, how was it adjusting to the pace of the East Coast? It's taking me a little more time to get used to everything out here but it's going pretty well.

And I vote yes on turning your son's room into a crafting sanctuary. Also, let me know if you are ever in my neck of the woods. Maybe we could hang out and check a crafty store sometime in the city. :)

  3. :) Heehee...thanks for the vote! We are just a bit north of the Bronx. Ok, wait a second...how in the world did I miss that you moved from OAKLAND to BROOKLYN? Wow, such a small world! I've met so many people making X-country CA-NY moves lately! Weird. Would love to hang out sometime...I'm going to message you through Etsy...

  4. Lauren I had no idea that you moved to Brooklyn!!!! How neat-- we now live in the same city, though I'm in Manhattan on the other side of the river :) I was just in Brooklyn the other day and I think it's so great that it's such a lively and awesome place. as a creative person, you made a good choice to move there!

  5. Hi Catherine! I know I made the move. I didn't think I would ever do it but I did! Still settling and getting use to the ways of the big city but I'm happy to be here and looking forward to enjoying all the wonderful things this city has to offer. :)
