Vintage Adventures: Red, Bright, and Blue

1)Valerie's Vintage, 2) Palm Spring Pickers, 3) Vintage Soup, 4) Valerie's Vintage
Moving to the big city has its sacrifices, one of them being space. This doesn’t really become an issue until you feel the urge to, let’s say, through an impromptu 4th of July party. Then you start to feel a little foolish for never taking advantage of the amazing shared patio space you use to have back in the golden state(like me).

Fabric Bundle from Shabby Sheets.
While I wait for my “big” backyard to appear, I can at least day dream of the patriotic party to be. I’m imagining red, white, and blue milk glass dishes laying over these corresponding fat quarter swatches (above) on a nice wooden picnic table.

I have yet to use a piece of this folk art inspired velvet ribbon that I bought from my favorite place on earth (The East Bay Creative Reuse Store). It's just busy sitting on my shelf, making me happy and looking pretty.
Perfect little decoration for springtime, n'est pas?

Thrifted Finds

Scored some amazing finds at a garage sale a couple weeks ago.
Got these two goodies for all under $3 buckaroos! Farm theme pyrex dish. Love the color and the design. I'm thinking of tracing the rooster design and using it as an embroidery pattern. I also nabbed this amazing vintage blue floral fabric. I tried researching Indian Head Mills Inc. on the web but couldn't find any history on the company directly.
Does anyone know of any good textile/fabric mills history sites?

Weekend Goodies

This weekend I stayed pretty busy photographing new items for the store, but I did have a chance to do a little shopping! The Creative Reuse Store had a 50% off sale on some of their vintage goods this weekend. Woohoo!

I was able to add to my already excessive button collection, grab an amazing vintage valentine card, and stock up on shipping supplies. I love that place!

Here are a few of the buttons I grabbed. I'm going to have a hard time letting go of some of these, especially the black one that says VIP on it. I might have to keep that one for myself. Check out the mini button with the wheat image imprinted on it. And what is up with the golden rose button with the eye in the center?! Just a little creepy . . . Love, love, love this card. The silver part is slightly iridescent. The greeting is sort of odd and scandalous, don't you think?
